We offer friendly and professional instruction to help you get started confidently.

We prepare you to dive with a buddy anywhere in the world and after only four action packed days you are ready to travel the world diving.

A Junior Open Water certification is for people aged between 10 and 15 years. Upon certification you will be qualified to dive to 12 meters with a certified adult or dive professional. An Adult Open Water certification is for people who are 15 years and older.

Upon certification you will be qualified to dive independently with a buddy to 18 meters. You may choose to complete the PADI Open Water Dive Course in four consecutive days or, if you prefer, in just two weekends you can qualify for the international certification.

Get your PADI scuba certification. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

Open Water training is available as soon as you pay your deposit or just call to start your personal dive course.
Dive Tairua also offers an Open Water Referral if you have completed some of your training elsewhere. PADI Open Water Dive Course includes classroom theory work as well as swimming pool training and four open water dives. We provide: PADI Training Pack: PADI manual, tables and log book PADI personal certification card Full dive equipment.

For your comfort, fit and hygiene we recommend you purchase your own mask, snorkel and fins. We have an excellent range in store-students receive a 10% discount on purchases of equipment. If you do not wish to purchase these article a $30 hire for mask/snorkel/fins for the course.

You need: A basic medical from a physician, stating you are fit to dive download medical form Two Passport photos for certification.

What You Learn

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined water dives to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives to review your skills And Explore

Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Open Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must

  • Be 10 years or older (PADI eLearning requires a minimum age of 13 years due to international internet laws

The Fun Part

The fun part about this course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breath underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you’ll make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You get to see some of the treasures of the underwater world.

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic SCUBA gear including a dive computer, and standard accesories. The equipment you wear varies somewhat, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate ( This is our area) or Cold Water

The Learning Materials You Need


PADI offers a variety of home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course.

PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you’ll jump in the pool (or pool-like environment) to practice these skills with your instructor. Later, as a certified diver, use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventures and to review what you learned.
