Tairua's Harbour and Coastline boasts crystal clear waters and prolific fish life.  On the Northern shore of the Harbour you have the Historical Logging and Gold mine beach side village of Tairua. • Classes, where a qualified instructor takes you through everything you need to know about kayaking with a bonus harbour tour included.
• School Activities, this is usually organised through Schools.. so ask your local school if they run camps that include Kayaking at Tairua or Pauanui.
• Kayak Adventures, these are half or full day organised excursions with a qualified kayak supervisor. You can choose from a Mountain Adventure which includes a trip up to the hidden Tairua Gold Mines in the Tairua Forest and Kayaking down the Tairua River to the Tairua Harbour. Or Exploring the dramatic Tairuaian Head Lands on a Coastal Sea Kayaking Adventure. taking in towing cliffs, golden beaches, Sailors Grave and hidden caves.
