Tairua & Pauanui - Coromandel, New Zealand.
TAIRUA & PAUANUI TWIN HARBOUR TOWNS BY THE SEA - Coromandel, New Zealand. Tairua is a spectacular landmark, with loads of history and natural beauty. Pauanui a more modern take on Bache & Beach lifestyle.

Tairua is a small seaside resort and fishing village on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula with a delightful harbour linked by two sandy white beaches.

A headland island named Paku Mountain, which is joined by a sand dune, stands at the harbour heads. Under which Tairua dive is located.

Tairua & Pauanui is a favourite holiday/vacation resort of many New Zealanders who have holiday homes around the harbour and on the surrounding hillsides. The ocean to the east , the mountains of the Coromandel to the west and dozens of idyllic white sandy beaches to the north and south. Horse and Riders play on the low tide sand in the middle of the harbour with Tairua Village in the background.

Summer fun. Wind Surfers compete on the low tide sands of the shared harbour of Tairua & Pauanui. While white yachts and cruisers moored along the water channels wait until the tide turns to head out again diving and fishing or just exploring the fabulous islands outside the Tairua Bar. No wonder Aucklanders and International visitors come here year after year to experience the pristine environment.
Tairua & Pauanui are a leisurely 2 hour drive from Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, or Tauranga on sealed and scenic highways. From Tairua visitors can explore the coastline north and south, to the many beaches and hidden coves that make the Coromandel Peninsula so unique, from native bush trails through Kauri and Fern forests, to boat charters to the nearby islands.

Laze away your time on a secluded beach, under a spreading native Pohutukawa tree. Or gaze at the dramatic volcanic formations as the lava hit the sea not so long ago.

Make your own spa pool in the sand at Hot Water Beach just 20 minutes from Tairua, or visit the beautiful Cathedral Cove.

Paku was once an island at the harbor entrance but today it’s joined to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. The town has a commercial center that looks after all the needs of the holidaymaker: shopping, library, hire services, holiday supplies, car repairs etc. Things to do include: kayaking, mini golf, horse trekking and pony riding, boating, tennis, fishing and the Tairua Country Club with the scenic 18 hole golf course, bowls and croquet.

The Old Ferry will remain in the New Marina's Plans
Cafes and restaurants include the The Old Mill and The Cypres Tree – dine in style at Paku.

Charter boats are available for fishing and diving.
